Avril is an experienced Senior Manager with strong Human Resources and Training knowledge base gained over 20 years in a range of permanent and interim roles including over five years at Executive Director level in NHS and Commercial organisations. Avril is a Chartered Fellow of CIPD and a PRINCE 2 and MSP Practitioner with a lengthy record of successful project and programme management in the NHS, finance, charity, audit and engineering sectors.

In the last few years, Avril has delivered a number of effective projects and programmes. For example, she led a national project for NHS Employers and the Department of Health to set up regional collaboratives for locum provision to deliver significant operational efficiency and cost savings. She co-wrote the Creating Capable Teams Approach (CCTA) Toolkit for the Mental Health National Workforce Programme which was rolled out nationally and Avril co-trained around 500 facilitators to use the toolkit throughout England. Avril has also completed a strategic operational review with recommendations for service development for a mental health trust and advised small businesses on employee relations matters.

Avril has a track record of "getting things done" and has expertise in many areas including workforce development, human resources, change management and organisation development. Her skill set includes highly developed communication skills in both written and oral contexts and she has experience of report writing, newsletters, and facilitation. She has been informally trained in coaching and mentoring which she delivered for HR staff in the Eastern Region as part of an NHS initiative. She also ran a learning set for Directors in Mental Health Trusts.
