The Eastern Development Centre supports improvements in health and social care in the East of England.

 

What we do

We support the NHS and social care to improve the lives of those living in the East of England, by supporting the development of the health and social care systems.

We are commissioned to undertake various projects and programmes of work by both national and regional organisations including the Department of Health.

Our approach is focused on providing:

• programme and project management,
• the use of improvement tools and techniques such as LEAN and Six Sigma
• targeted specialist expertise and experience.

Our confirmed work programme in 2009/10 includes supporting NHS East of England to deliver its exciting vision ‘Towards the Best Together', and a range of programmes commissioned by the newly established Department of Health Social Care and Local Partnerships team at GO East. We also manage significant portfolio programmes in the East of England on behalf of the Big Lottery Fund, the regional Joint Improvement Partnership and the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).  Find out more in the ‘Our Work` section.

We have a flexible team of staff consisting of the Head of Eastern Development Centre, Portfolio Managers, Programme Managers, Project Managers, Project Support Officers and corporate support staff.

All our staff are trained to practitioner standard in PRINCE2 and MSP (project management and programme management qualifications).

Their combined technical expertise in health and social care includes:

• children, maternity, well-being, personalisation, learning disabilities, older people, mental health and social care,
• involvement, equality/diversity, leadership,
• brokerage of specialist improvement input, and;
• experience across all stakeholder groups.

Our exciting new initiative - Enable East

In December 2009, we also launched our exciting new initiative, Enable East, aimed at supporting local NHS and other public sector organisations to "really get to grips with the gritty reality of project and programme delivery".

We understand the challenge for public sector organisations to deliver new services, improvements and benefits that are sustainable whilst maintaining high standards of day-to-day service delivery and want to help people with this; building effective, sustainable long term solutions and developing people's own expertise and experience.  Find out more on our Enable East website - www.enableeast.org.uk
